About the Artist

Encaustic painting is an ancient technique that incorporates melted beeswax, damar resin and an oil based pigment.

Artist, Margot Rae, creates unique original works using the encaustic method often in combination with mixed media applications such as image transfer and collage. She particularly enjoys the sculptural and tactile effects the beeswax gives to her paintings.

Margot holds a degree in Fine Art from the University of Guelph majoring in Sculpture and Printmaking. After completing a study of Historical Mediums, painting with beeswax quickly became her preferred art form. She has been practicing this method of painting for over 25 years and continues to explore new techniques in this exciting and versatile medium.
